The Shanghai Guild serves as a forum for knitters of all levels and nationalities to come together, meet new friends, learn new skills, share expertise, and make something special to donate to charity.
We supply yarn and the necessary tools to anyone interested in donating their items to local good causes. And of course you may work on projects for your friends and families -- even for yourself.
This is an informal Guild, so you don’t need to commit to coming every week nor should you worry that your work is not ‘perfect’. Our goal is to create a comfortable environment where everyone can sit back, have fun and enjoy the process of knitting. Along the way, we've made friends and branched out into other remarkable activities. You never know where knitting will lead you!
Our meeting time is most Thursday afternoons, 1:00-4:00 p.m., at the home of Kathy Pauli, Jian Guo Xi Lu, Lane 56, House 17 (near the intersection with Ruijin Er Lu, and very convenient to Line 9's Dapuqiao Lu subway stop). Click here for map
Donations of yarn are welcome! No amount is too small; it will provide texture and interest to the blankets we are currently knitting.
Please join us any time to knit or, if you need a special gift, consider our beautiful stuffed toys, blankets, scarves, sweaters, hats, and gloves!
OUR WORK FOR THE COMMUNITY Since it was founded in 2004 by Sue Ferry as the Shanghai Patchwork and Knitting Guild, the Guild has sought to assist those in need both within Shanghai and in the provinces beyond it. The Guild has formed a series of relationships with local charities in an effort to assist them in the valuable work they do. Click on "Charities We Support" on the left for a brief description of the groups we assist and the ways in which we do so. If you know of an institution or group in need in China whom you think we could help, please contact the Guild at info@shanghaiguild.com. |
